Lake Nokomis
The Lake Nokomis Weir Outlet Reconstruction project, is located on the north side of the lake, just south of Minnehaha Creek within Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Blackstone Contractors was contracted in 2012 to reconstruct the existing mechanical-functioning weir between Lake Nokomis and Minnehaha Creek to control water levels within the lake, thwart the spread of zebra mussels from Lake Minnetonka to Lake Nokomis, and limit debris-laden waters from the creek entering the lake during large rain events. The new weir also provided aesthetic improvements by incorporating stamped and stained cast-in-place concrete to mimic the historical nature of the existing stone bridge and mechanical building within visual proximity of the weir.
